There were workshops which would produce and repair horse drawn carriages in Manisa region, before motor vehicles and asphalt roads have become widespread. Woodwork horse drawn carriages would be painted colourfully, adorned with flowers, plant and scenery drawings, and used for transportation and carriage.
Currently, there are still a few workshops producing horse – drawn carriages in Akhisar. However, these workshops survived by building replicas of these carriages, which have almost become extinct, because of changing life conditions. Carriages built in Akhisar are now used for decoration purposes in gardens and interiors for those seeking a nostalgic taste.
